Direct Access

Instruct a Barrister Directly

Professional legal advice and representation without the need to instruct a solicitor first, where appropriate.

What Is Direct Access ?

Direct Access, also known as Public Access, allows individuals and businesses to instruct a barrister directly without necessarily having to instruct a solicitor.

At Olive Court Chambers, we provide legal advice, assistance with preparing legal documents and representation in court, where appropriate.

This approach can offer a straightforward and cost-effective way to obtain specialist legal assistance. However, not every case is suitable for Direct Access, and we will assess your circumstances before accepting instructions.

How Direct Access Works

01

Initial Enquiry

Contact chambers and provide a brief outline of your legal matter.

02

Case Assessment

We assess whether your matter is suitable for Direct Access and explain the proposed fees.

03

Legal Assistance

Once instructions are accepted, we provide the agreed legal advice or representation.

How We Can Help

Depending on the nature of your case, our barristers can assist with:

  • Legal Advice: Understanding your legal position, available options and the next steps.

  • Court Representation: Representing you at hearings and other court proceedings.

  • Drafting Legal Documents: Preparing applications, statements and other legal documents, where appropriate.

  • Case Preparation: Assisting with evidence, legal submissions and preparation for hearings.

We primarily assist clients with family law matters, including children proceedings and financial remedy disputes. The scope of our assistance will be agreed before instructions are accepted.
